Canada/AB: Banff NP – American Pika

Pika is a funny little animal that lives high in the mountains in the alpine zone above the tree line. While they look like mice, they are closer related to rabbits. The live in communes, communicating by high-pitched squeaks warning each other of impeding danger. They spent most of their time gathering food for winter months and it is common to see a pika with its mouth full of grass.
