Canary Islands: Vegueta historic district of Las Palmas
Las Palmas is the capital of the Canary Islands and the largest city, founded in early 15th century. Vegueta is the historic district of the city with cobblestone streets, old houses, plazas, and the spectacular Catedral de Santa Ana (aka Las Palmas Cathedral). A lot of statues of dogs around the cathedral, since turns out this is what Canary Islands are named for – canines, since early visitors (including Columbus on his way west) encountered many dogs.
