Lleida is steeped in history – dating back all The way to 6th century BC, then time under Romans, then Visigoths, the ln Muslim rule (it was a major fortress then), and finally Christian rule from 12th century as part of the Crown of Aragorn. Main attractions here include a massive Castell de la Suda, fortress towering over the city, it served as a royal residence for Muslim governors and later Christian kings. Inside the castle is Seu Vella, a 13th-century Romanesque-Gothic cathedral with ornate Gothic cloister, one of the largest in Europe, and the bell tower offering sweeping views of Lleida and the Segre River.
