Cayman Islands: Atlantis Submarine Night Dive

Cayman Islands invented the idea of offering the worlds’s first passenger submarine – Atlantis I was launched in 1985. In addition to day dives, once a week you can try a night dive, which is a much more interesting adventure. The sub descends over 100ft to the edge of the Cayman Trench which then drops another 2400 feet. The typical fish is not out at night but the predators are in full hunt mode, with giant snappers devouring smaller fish with a single bite. Also, lack of sunlight brings out the true variety of the coral color, although it may not photograph well through the submarine’s windows.
