Central African Republic: Bangui – More City Exploration
Bangui somewhat improved from the last time I was here – there is certainly less UN vehicles with machine guns and the situation feels a bit calmer. It’s still insanely hectic and the roads – all the main arteries through the city – are absolutely atrocious and dilapidated. There are several large imposing buildings – military garrison, presidential palace, Ledger Plaza hotel, central bank. There are also some weird monuments – from a peace dove to a Wagner soldier, to independence memorial. There are several churches and a cathedral. And endless dust and street markets. Nearly a million people live here.
