Chad: Zakouma NP – Mongo
A trip from N’Djamena to Zakoima takes two days (unless you really spend 16 hours on the rod. The only option to break the trip is at Mongo – a dusty town with zero attractions. It’s literally in the middle of Sahel, sandy and dusty, and very basic. But there is certain adventure of staying at the Mongo Hotel and having a dinner and drinks with the locals – the hotel is the ultimate “high society” here with beer flowing and music pumping.
