Chad: N’Djamena – Cathedrale Notre-Dame de la Paix

Cathedrale Notre-Dame de la Paix aka Our Lady of Peace Cathedral is quite an unlikely structure in the heart of a Muslim Chad. It sits right in the city center and next to the presidential palace. It was originally built in 1965 and then complete destroyed in 1980 during a brutal civil war.it was then partially rebuilt in the 1990s, and then completely restored and reopened to the original specifications in 2023. The cathedral has a very distinctive modern design – a sweeping parabolic arched roof, grand entrance, and a massive wide open interior lit by a natural light coming through colored glass windows and doors.
