Chad: Zakouma NP – Rigueik Pan
There are three large areas of wetlands in the park, and the largest one is the Riguek Pan, it’s a seasonal flood plane that gets packed with wildlife and particularly birdlife in the dry season. There are massive amounts of birds here – in a total cacophony of sound and movement – thousands to tens of thousands of cranes, geese, and ducks – in particular black-crowned cranes! Also spur-winged geese, knob-billed ducks, and white-faced whistling ducks. Not enough? How about pelicans, various storks, herons, egrets, and even flamingo!
