Chile: Guatin Cordon Cactus Canyon
Guatin Canyon is home to a large forest of giant cardon cactuses (Echinopsis atacamensis), some of the largest in the world. The towering plants are often branch into “arms”, similar to saguaro in the USA. Cardons grow to 10 m (33 ft) high, covered with needles and hairs. The flowers are spectacular as well, rose-white and 10–14 cm (3.9–5.5 in) in diameter
