Colombia: Cartagena – Churches

For a compact old city, Cartagena boasts several spectacular historic churches. The grandest of them is of course the Catedral de Santa Catalina de Alejandrria from 1577, with huge interior richly decorated with religious art. Another famous one is Church of Santo Domingo from 1552, with its red walls and a famous baroque altar inside. There is also Church de San Pedro Claver with its famous imposing brick facade, and a smaller Church of Santo Toribio with another beautiful interior.
