Colombia: Isla de los Micos
Upstream on the Amazon from Letitia in about 1.5 hour ride by boat on the Colombian side of the river lies a small uninhabited island that is a natural preserve known as Isla de los Micos aka Monkey Island. The small islet is populated by hundred is Squirrel Monkeys, endemic to the Amazon rainforest. It’s a totally insane experiences as they come to you, jump in you, jump from person to person, and even climb under the hood of your raincoat because of the rain. They are quite small – only 25-35 cm (10-14 in) long, plus the tail of the same size. The fur is super soft and monkey are super cuddly and playful!
