Manizales is the largest town in the heart of Zona Cafetera in the Colombian highlands, lying in the shadow of the Nevado del Ruiz Volcano. The town dates back to the mid 19th century and the main economic driver here is coffee production. It’s a pretty colonial city with busy streets and great views of the surrounding mountains, but the main attraction here is without a doubt the Cathedral of Manizales, the tallest cathedral in Colombia and third tallest in Latin America at 106m tall.
