Comoros: Exploring the highlands of Grand Comore
Comores in general and the Grand Comore (the biggest island) are all volcanic in origin with the latter having a massive active volcano – Mount Karthala – at its heart. It is one of the most active volcanoes in the world, having erupted over 20 times in the last 100 years. The center of the island is characterized by panoramic views of volcanic cones and lava flows, and the ocean surrounding the island in any direction you look.
