Costa Rica: Cahuita National Park

Cahuita National Park is a total gem of the Caribbean coast of Ouerto Rico. The park is quite small and gets a bit crowded, but it has three main attractions – the best coral reef just offshore, spectacular white sand beach, and a pristine jungle packed with wildlife. We only walked a short portion of the coastal trail, and still were able to spot nearly a dozen howler monkey just above our heads, a two-toed sloth climbing a tree within an arms reach, and an endemic yellow eyelash pit viper! The later is often considered a symbol of the park – these small, bright yellow snakes are often found perfectly still on low-hanging branches or shrubs near the boardwalks. Plus plenty of amazing flora and a true jungle.
