Costa Rica: Chesnut-Mandibled Toucans
We saw this species of toucans – chestnut-mandibles toucans – twice, once in Volcan Arenal National Park and then again at Volcan Tenorio National Park. One of the most colorful of toucans, these guys have brightly colored yellow neck and chestnut and a two-colored bill – yellow top and chestnut bottom. They are quite loud with unmistakable call, found mostly in Central America from Nicaragua to Panama in lowland rainforest.
