Costa Rica: Jaguar Rescue Center
There are no jaguars at the Jaguar Rescue Center, but there are plenty of other Costa Rican wildlife, located near Puerto Viejo about an hour drive south along the coast from Puerto Limon. The park is home to a large variety of mammals, birds, and reptiles – most of them being rehabilitated before being released into the wild. We saw two species of toucans – chestnut and rainbow, turtles, snakes, crocodiles and caymans, three species of primates (howler monkeys, spider monkeys, and white-faced capuchins. Also, two species of macaws and two species of owls, and four species of parrots.
