Costa Rica: Poas Volcano National Park
Poas Volcano is one of the most active volcanoes in Costa Rica (of which there are many). The stratovolcano has erupted 40 times since 1828, and most recently in 2017 when visitors at the crater had to be evacuated in emergency. There is a crater lake at the bottom of the crater, but the volcano creates its own cloud system and it is almost always shrouded in very dense fog and clouds. Rarely, you can get a glimpse down in the depth of the crater. And we got lucky
