Crete: Elafonissi Beach
It takes hours to get here via narrow mountain roads, old tunnels, towns where streets are in disarray and one way – but it’s all ultimately worth it. Elafonissi Beach is known as the best beach in Crete and its truly spectacular, located at the farthest southwest tip of the island. Elafonissi is actually a small offshore island that is connected to mainland by a sand bar at low tide. All around on is the beach and the sand is actually pink right at the water break. It’s very crowded but still stunning and amazing.
