Croatia: Zadar
An awesome town with spectacular Roman ruins scattered all around – and bars and cafés set all over (pretty much any bar you pick you will be sipping a drink with a view of ruined thousand year old columns) But there is more – the town’s other two attraction are the Sea Organ and Sun Salutation right on the very tip of the peninsula. Both are modern art monuments deigned by architect Nicola Basic. The Sea Organ is a series of steps into the sea with pipes and holes built in – as the surf hits the wall, the structure produces sounds of a cathedral organ. Nonstop! The Sun Salutation is 22m in diameter circle of glass with built in solar panels that accumulate energy during the day and then light up with pulsating and running lights after sunset. The sunset here is an absolute must!
