Croatia: Zagreb – Donji Grad (Lower Town)
Zagreb’s Donji Grad aka Lower Town couldn’t be any more different from the Upper Town – once you descend on the funicular, you enter a flat grid of of grand baroque and rococo buildings, full of museums and parks – National Theater among them. Parks actually form a horseshoe in the heart of the Lower Town with palace-like museums, hotels, and official buildings leading the green areas – Archaeological Museum, Supreme Court, National Archives, and so on. I also ran into a communist party rally for the return of Yugoslavia – all three of the seriously aged supporters of the insanity.
