Egypt/Sinai: Mount Sinai – Descent
Descending down Mount Sinai, you can finally appreciate the desert beauty of the mountainous biblical landscape (climbing up was in the darkness – see previous Post 02). Desolate and empty – it’s the same panorama of reddish cliffs everywhere. As you look up to the top of Mount Sinai, it’s almost hard to believe you were there – you can only see the silhouettes of the church and mosque that are at the very top. After 5km descent, you finally see the Saint Catherine Monastery in the valley bottom
