El Salvador: Lago Coatepeque
Lago Coatepeque is actually a crater lake in a volcanic caldera, almost perfectly circular in shape. It lies at an altitude of 745 m above sea level, has an area of 25 sq km, and a depth of 115 m. Many restaurants are clinging to caldera walls along the rim, offering spectacular panoramas of the lake in a clear day.
