England: Farne Islands – Staple Island
Staple Island is one of the only two Farne Islands that allows landing. And it’s a total birdlife insanity – it doesn’t get closer to nature than this! The island is nothing more then some sheer rocks and cliffs and a little bit of land. The seabird colonies here are profound and massive – guillemots in thousands, kittiwakes, puffins, shags, razorbill, and more. Kittiwakes just had little chick who follow their mother around walking – tiny grey spotted balls of fur! Shags – large black-green birds also just had young ones – still furry and sitting in nests. And razorbills and especially guillemots are just in insane numbers and you walk so close right by them!
