England: Town of Rye
Rye is a small town of about 4k people but is extremely picturesque with beautiful old houses, cobblestone pavement, flowery balconies, and a total maze of streets. It is an old town going back to 11th century and was one of the Cinque Ports Confederation in the medieval England, i.e. crucial to the defense of the crown from the Spanish and French invasions. You can climb the spiral staircase in the cathedral in the middle of the town for unparalleled views of the town with its tiled roofs, the fields further away, and the sea only 2km further.
