Ethiopia: Negash Market
This was totally unplanned and unexpected buy somehow we stumbled on a once-a-week market in the town of Negash. One of the most spectacular and unadulterated local market experiences ever – women in traditional clothes selling spices, green coffee beans (about $3 per 1 kilogram/2.3 pounds), crushed salt, dried chillies and much more. Vegetables, garlic, clothing, colorful rubber shoes, pans and pots, and sheep and goats (loading the goats onto a minivan was fun). Everyone sits on the dusty ground while goats and donkeys roam throughout the entire market area freely.
