Ethiopia: Omo River National Park – Fauna

Omo River is a large National Park, UNESCO listed for the many different isolated tribes that live here, preserving their unique traditions and culture. But Omo river is also a spectacular landscape of a semi desert plateau with unique flora and fauna. Massive termite mounds tower along the desolate landscapes, often several meters high. There is no big game like in other African countries, and wildlife is not a destination for this area of Ethiopia, but you still can spot some interesting species of antelopes and mammals, like the mongooses. But it’s the birds that still the show – so many and colorful!
