Ethiopia: Simien Mountains NP – High Altitude Landscape
The most bizarrre and spectacular landscape at Simien National Park is in the Easter part, where the highest peaks are located. We got to the 4,430 metres (14,530 ft) Bwahit Pass, the highest point ion the road in the park (and then hiked up from here to find the Walia ibex). It’s near freezing up here, the air is thin, and and the landscape is dotted with giant lobelia plants (Lobelia rhynchopetalum) that only grow at this elevation.
