Ethiopia: Simien Mountains NP – Wilflowers
Simien Mountains has unique flora given its high elevations on the plateau, roughly 10-12k feet on average. There are three different vegetation belts, each with its unique flora The highest altitudinal belt is the afro-alpine steppe belt, found above 3700 m/ 12k feet above sea level. The middle level is mostly subalpine bushes and shrubs and a wide variety of wildflowers. The third level is at the bottom of the valley and a drastically different, near-tropical flora.
