Faroe Islands: Northern Islands Bordoy & Vidoy
The northern islands are more desolate then the south of Faroe Islands (where the capital Torshavn is). To get to Bordoy and Vidoy, it takes navigating several large and small one-way tunnels and narrow roads clinging to cliffs. But the scenery at the northern tips is starkly beautiful – tall snow-capped mountains rising over the waters of narrow fjords and tiny villages look like toys at the bottom of the cliffs. Waterfalls tumbling down everywhere, tiny traditional turf-roofs houses clinging to steep hills, and sheep roaming free. Desolation and beauty!
