France: Bordeaux – Esplanade des Quinconces
The most recognizable symbol of Bordeaux (after wine) is Esplanade des Quinconces – a huge public square right in the heart the the city – the largest square in Europe. The centerpiece here is the fountain of the Monument aux Girondins, a legislative group during the French Revolution that were all later persecuted during the post-revolutionary Terror.
