France: Cote de Granite Rose

Côte de Granite Rose aka Pink Granite Coast is a stretch of dramatic coastline on the north of Brittany, famous for its wind- and wave-sculpted granite formations. Shaped over millions of years by weathering during the Ice Age and relentless Atlantic tides, the granite here is highly resistant to erosion, forming steep cliffs and isolated tors (rounded hilltops). There are also massive eroded granite boulders up to 20 m (65 feet) high, scattered across the landscape like a giant’s playground. The coast is also home to the famous Phare Mean Ruz Lighthouse, built from pink granite and towering on a rock outcrop.
