France: Epernay – Avenue de Champagne

Avenue de Champagne runs through the heart of the town of Epernay, the capital of champagne region. The world’s biggest champagne houses are all located along the avenue – Moet & Chandon, Mercier, De Castellane and dozens of other ones. Most run tours of their underground cellars and tastings above ground. There are over 180km of underground chalk caves storing millions of champagne bottles, including all the Don Perignion vintage production. The entire avenue is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
