France: Fontainebleau Palace – Napoleon I Museum

There is a large area within Palace of Fontainebleau dedicated to Napoleon Bonaparte who made Fontainebleau his primary residence and spent a lot of time here. The museum showcases the life, reign, and legacy of Napoleon Bonaparte, featuring over 500 artifacts, including furniture, paintings, sculptures, weapons, costumes, ceramics, and personal items. The museum traces Napoleon’s journey from his 1804 coronation to his abdication in Fontainebleau in 1814. Impressive items include coronation robes, swords, lots of portraits (Napoleon loved portraits), weapons from military campaigns, a campaign tent, and even his iconic cocked hat!
