France: Le Havre
Le Havre is amajor port city, located right at the meeting point of Sine River and the English Channel. Famously founded by King Francis I in 1517, it is France’s largest container port and serves as a major gateway for cruise ships and trans-Channel ferries. Following its near-total destruction during World War II, the city center was entirely rebuilt using a modernist grid of reinforced concrete design, earning it designation as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
