France: Lille
Lille is the historic capital of Flanders, the city is French in the name but Belgian in the feel. The baroque architecture and cuisine are most certainly Flemish. The old town with broad avenues and cobblestone streets is a delight to explore, starting with a big Place du General de Gaulle (Grand Place) with the Statue of Goddess in the middle. The most beautiful building here is the 1652 Vieille Bourse (Old Stock Exchange. Also here is Theatre du Nord, and many other historic buildings. A little out of center city is the Belfroi de Lille Belltower and City Hall and Porte de Paris Arch.
