France: Orcival Basilica
A tiny little village of Orcival has just a couple streets in a valley set between several high hills. And right in its heart stand a spectacular early Romanesque 12th century Notre-Dame basilica. It holds a precious statue of Virgin Mary and Black Jesus – a draw for many pilgrims coming here. The octagonal church is quite beautiful (arguably one of the prettiest in France) with a spectacular setting in a remote location in a tiny village in a beautiful valley deep – classic unspoiled France!
