France: Orleans – Cathedrale Sainte-Croix
The spectacular Orleans Cathedral was built from 1278 to 1329, and finally conflicted by 1512. The cathedral’s exterior features twin towers (81 meters high with five doorways, all elaborately decorated (supposedly, there was a church here as early as 330AD). The sheer size from the outsize is beyond impressive, the cathedral towers above the rest of the city, dwarfing every other building in sight. Jeanne d’Arc visited the cathedral every day during the siege of Orleans and the history of Maid of Orleans is now reflected in the stained-glass windows.
