France: Rouen – Notre-Dame de Rouen Cathedral

Cathedral Notre-Dame de Rouen is a massive gothic cathedral is the city of Rouen in Normandy. It’s world-famous for its soaring spires, intricate facade, and ornate interior (it was even depicted by Claude Monet in a series of paintings, capturing light and color changes). The cathedral was continuously built, rebuilt, and enhanced between 12th and 16th centuries, and is a true Gothic masterpiece, including the central 151 m spire, that makes it one of France’s tallest churches (it actually was the tallest building in the world between 1876-80). There are two more towers, each in a different style.
