France: Eiffel Tower in Paris
Eiffel Tower is a symbol of France and supposedly the most visited man-made monument in the world. Built in 1889 by Gustave Eiffel as the entrance arch to the 1889 World’s Fair, it was then the tallest structure in the world. It remained as such until 1930’s construction of the Chrysler Building in New York. The Tower is 1,063 fee (324 meters) high which would equate to roughly 81-story building. There are three levels of observation platforms with fantastic views of Paris in 360 degrees. Time it right and you can see the sunset from the top. The night views of the tower all lit up with lights are also spectacular.
