French Polynesia/Taha’a: Motu Tau Tau
Motu Tau Tau is an islet in the Tahaa/Raiatea Lagoon where the Le Tahaa Resort is located (in fact Tahaa is surrounded by over 30 motus). There are several smaller uninhabited motus that you can cross in neck-high water over to and explore. Plenty of swaying coconut palms (beware of falling coconuts – they drop like bombs), white sand idyllic beaches, and one of the best snorkeling spots in the entire country (next post). You can walk around the entire motus and see the silhouette of the Bora Bora island in the distance. The ground on the islets in full of holes made by land crabs, so you gotta mind where you step.
