Galapagos: Lava Lizards
Lava lizard is another distinctly Galapagos animal, present on most islands. They are small lizards but have a very colorful pattern with red on the throat. Males do “push-ups” on lava rocks to attract females. They live in some of the most inhospitable volcanic environments and survive or very little plant and insect diet (with a bit of cannibalism).
