Galapagos: Volcan Chico
Chico is not a volcano but rather a series of vents on the northern slope of the Sierra Negro volcano and the sight of the most recent eruption in 2005. Otherworldly with lava flows of different colors and shapes: black, brown, red, yellow. The ground is warm and steaming in places, with collapsed volcanic cones, lava bombs, lava caves and tunnels, lava waterfalls and sinkholes. It’s like being on the surface of the moon!
