Galapagos: Giant Tortoises in the wild
Incredible animals! 6 feet (1.5m) long and 1000 pounds (250kg) weight, they are fascinating to watch, especially in the wild. They live in the moist and cool highlands, about 1500 feet above see level and many miles away from the ocean. Every island in Galapagos has pretty much its own species of the tortoise, the Santa Cruz population is second largest. I spent hours watching them – they love fallen wild guavas; another one was deep inside the passion fruit wine ready to munch on those. Ad finally the was one crossing the road.
