Germany: Bad Langensalza

Bad Langensalza is another Thuringian town with a well preserved historic core full of half-timbered houses lining up narrow cobblestone streets and a complete fortress with turret towers and walls surrounding it all. The town is famous for its thermal baths (“bad” means “spa” in German, beautiful parks, and loads of historical architecture. Bad Langensalza also has a Botanical Garden, a Rose Garden, a Magnolia Garden, an Arboretum, and even an authentic Japanese Garden. The main square and the surrounding areas have a lot of architectural sites – Marienkirche (St. Mary’s Church) dating back to the 13th century, Old Town Hall with its Renaissance style and the Türmchen (Little Tower), and much more.
