Germany: Erfurt – St Mary’s Cathedral & St Severus Church
Erfurt – another German town with long history and medieval architecture. It’s famous cathedral – Erfurter Dom or St Mary’s Cathedral – dates back to 742 AD and has priceless treasures and tombs inside as well as some of the oldest medieval stained glass windows. The cathedral houses the largest surviving medieval-era bell in the world, the Maria Gloriosa. Right next to the cathedral is an even more beautiful St Severus Church with three spiky towers, this one goes back to 1142.
