Germany: Harburg Castle
Harburg Castle or Burg Harburg is the end point of the Romantic Road. The castle was built on a hilltop in the 11th century by Hohenstaufen emperors of Germany and is considered one of the oldest castle fortifications in Germany. The castle was built and extended in the Middle Ages and now has an appearance of a classic fairytale fortress with round towers, thick walls and the keep inside. Inside there is a small museum and a restaurant and castle is popular for weddings.
