Kulmbach lies in Upper Franconia and is renowned for its beer production, particularly the Kulmbacher Brewery, which is one of the most famous breweries in Germany. Kulmbach old town is very well preserved with an imposing Plassenburg Castle. The town’s strategic location at the confluence of the Main and White Main rivers has historically made it an important center for trade and commerce. Among the attractions of the old town are the Market Square with the Luitpold Fountain, the baroque Rathaus, the White Tower, the Red Tower, and street after cobblestone street of spectacular old houses.
