Germany: Sesslach

Sesslach is super small, only 4K people, located west of Coburg, but the little town is absolutely incredible. It’s is an absolutely intact medieval town surrounded with a defensive wall with multiple towers and entrance gates and the interiors without any modern or new buildings, packed with half-timbered houses. It is completely off the beaten path and see very few tourists. You can walk the entire town across in all directions in less than an hour, admiring the old structures. The Marktplatz is the center of town with an ornate half-timbered Rathaus, just behind is the 13th century St Johannes Church. Sesslach is known as the town of storks, and storks have been known to live on the top of the town wall towers for centuries. And there is even a monument to storks on the min square.
