Germany: Weimar
Weimar is one of the most visited towns in Thuringia since it’s considered to be the capital of the classical literature. Goethe, Schiller, and Nietzsche all lived and produced here. Also Franz Liszt composed here and Vasiliy Kandinsky painted here. The entire Bach family lived here, and also Hans Cristian Andersen wrote his fairy tales in Weimar. And finally it was in Weimar that the first German democratic constitution was adopted after WWI giving birth to the Weimar Republic. Apart from various museums dedicated to all this, Weimar boasts several beautiful squares and classically pretty architecture, and some good restaurants and food stalls serving classic Thuringian fare.
