Greece: Kavala
Kavala is a seaport in the far eastern end of the panhandle of Greek Macedonia. The surrounding bay of Kavala is a safe Harbour and very picturesque and is often referred to as the Monaco of Greece. Kavala was founded in the 7th century BC! The city itself sits on a rock outcrop and there is a medieval fortress on top, dating to the Ottoman times, although there before was a foresees here from the Byzantine era. And one of the main must-see attractions is the Kavala Aqueduct, which was originally built in Roman times, then ruined and rebuilt during the Ottoman reign.
